Circular walk on glass kit

£9,999.00 inc Vat

Our steel support frames all come with a rubber gasket ready fitted so that when fitting the glass it only has to be lowered into place. Once in the glass requires a low modulus  Silicone bead putting around the edge to prevent dirt, grit and water from sitting in the rebate. We will supply the low modulus silicone as part of the steel support system. Standard silicone will attack the laminate layer and cause the glass to split around the edges.

Galvanised & Powder coated steel.

Installation Guide for Walk on Glass into Steel frames.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any guidance or advice when installing our walk on glass. Hopefully the installation guide below should offer some useful instructions. We would recommend that this is at least a two person task with three being preferable.
Never rest the glass on stone, metal or concrete as this can damage the glass. Wood, foam or dustsheets are always preferable.
Both glass and steelwork can be very heavy so remember to use safe lifting practices and bend at the knees.

1. Fix metal frame in place either through fixing points, on any requested flanges or by sitting the frame onto a bed of suitable mastic/cement.

2. Once any mastic or cement has set place two wooden batons across the metal frame and lift the glass into position above the opening resting on the batons.

3. Fix glass lifting suckers (available online or can be purchased from us at time of ordering) onto the glass surface ensuring the glass is clean and free from dirt and grease.

4. Lift the glass high enough to remove the batons and carefully lower the glass into position trying to keep a uniform gap around the edge. The glass can be lifted slightly to adjust the gap to hopefully a 3mm tolerance all around the edge.

5. Run a small silicone bead around the top edge of the glass and tool off by wetting the silicone and smoothing around the edge of the glass and steelwork. This bead only needs to be very shallow as its only purpose is to prevent water and dirt from gathering in the space. Ensure that a low modulus silicone is used as anything else will cause the laminated layer to fail and become unsightly.

Removing the glass
Use a razor blade to split the small silicone bead and lift out the glass using the same procedure detailed above.
